Dear MAC Midwest Families and Community, |
As we move into summer, I continue to feel incredibly grateful for the community surrounding MAC Midwest.
Over the past several months, we have seen firsthand what is possible when families, staff, advocates, partners, and supporters come together around a shared purpose. From legislative outreach efforts that helped elevate the needs of the autism community, to the continued growth of our services and leadership team, to community events like our upcoming Doug Transgrud Memorial Golf Tournament, each effort reflects the strength of the people who believe in this mission. This month’s newsletter highlights several exciting updates, including the addition of Michelle Super as our new Chief People Officer. Michelle brings a deep commitment to people, culture, and mission-driven leadership, and we are excited to welcome her to MAC Midwest.
We are also incredibly thankful to everyone who took time to engage in advocacy efforts during this legislative session. Your outreach, stories, and support helped ensure important conversations continued around access to care and support for families across Minnesota. While important policy discussions and implementation planning will continue into future legislative sessions, we are grateful for the many individuals who helped ensure the voices of providers, staff, and families were heard throughout this process.
This spring also marked the launch of MAC Midwest’s first Youth Advisory Board. It has been incredibly encouraging to see young leaders stepping forward to share ideas, advocate for their communities, and help shape the future of MAC Midwest. We are excited to continue building this group and empowering youth voices within our organization.
As we look ahead to summer, we invite our community to stay connected and engaged. Whether that means joining us on the golf course in August, becoming a sponsor, staying informed through future advocacy efforts, sharing our mission with others, or continuing to walk alongside families in your everyday work and support, every effort matters. Thank you for being part of this community and for continuing to believe in the work we are building together.
With gratitude, Chris Bent Chief Executive Officer |

As parents, it’s easy to fill our children’s summers with activities, camps, and opportunities. But what happens when we leave space for boredom, rest, and self-discovery?
In this thoughtful reflection, Sarah Monahan, Director of Speech and OT Services, shares how one family’s approach to summer changed after realizing that sometimes growth happens in the quiet moments. From video games and snacks to unexpected adventures and independence, Sarah explores the value of listening to the quiet voice inside. |

Join Us for the 8th Annual Doug Transgrud Memorial Golf Tournament |
Join us on August 18, 2026 at The Wilds Golf Course for the 9th Annual Doug Transgrud Memorial Golf Tournament benefiting MAC Midwest.
This meaningful community event brings together supporters, families, community partners, and local businesses for a day on the course in support of autism and mental health services for learners and families across our communities.
Registration is now open for golfers and foursomes, and we are actively seeking event sponsors and community partners who want to make a meaningful impact. Sponsorship opportunities are a great way for businesses to support local families while gaining visibility throughout the event and the broader MAC Midwest community.
Whether you join us on the course or partner as a sponsor, your support helps expand access to compassionate, high quality care for the individuals and families we serve. We invite you to gather your team, invite your company, and join us for a memorable day of golf, community, and impact. |
