I have always believed that young people have something powerful to offer. Fresh ideas, honest perspectives, and a passion for creating change. When we create space for them to lead, incredible things can happen.
That is why I am proud to share that we are launching our first ever Youth Advisory Board (YAB) — a new opportunity for teens ages 13 to 18 to help shape our programs, support families, and build greater understanding of autism and neurodiversity in the communities we serve.
It is a joy to welcome this next generation of leaders into the conversation. This board reflects a shared belief that the future will be brighter when we include the voices of those who have grown and helped shape it. The YAB is open to all youth who feel called to make a difference. That might be a sibling of someone receiving services at MAC, a youth who identifies as neurodivergent, a child of a staff member, or a young person in your life who cares deeply about inclusion and connection.
As part of the YAB, members will have the chance to:
• Offer feedback that helps improve the services we provide
• Create tools that make it easier for families to access support
• Lead outreach projects that promote understanding and belonging
We are not just inviting youth to the table. We are listening and learning from them, and we believe their contributions will strengthen our work in lasting ways. If you know someone who would be a great fit, I hope you will encourage them to get involved.
Applications will open this fall, with more information coming very soon.
