A Look Back at Autism Acceptance Month and the Community That Shows Up
By MAC Midwest
At MAC Midwest, Autism Acceptance is not confined to a single month. It is part of everything we do. You will find it in every center, every therapy session, every family conversation, and every step we take alongside the people we serve.
April gave us the chance to highlight and celebrate what we strive to build every day: a community where every learner is seen, supported, and empowered to grow in their own way. This month was filled with joyful moments, meaningful connections, and powerful reminders of why this work matters and why it continues long after the calendar turns.
This April, our centers came alive with creativity, connection, and celebration. Learners, families, and staff across our locations marked the month in ways that honored individuality and built a sense of belonging. From music parades and themed spirit days to sensory-friendly activities and duck-feeding walks in the sunshine, each moment was designed to uplift, include, and empower.
These activities were not only fun. They were filled with purpose. Every event created opportunities for learners to build communication, confidence, and community. All of it happened while being supported by people who truly care.

Support Beyond Our Walls
That spirit of belonging extended beyond our centers and into the broader community. We were honored to be chosen by the Warlords SCV of Minnesota, a local motorcycle club based our of St. Croix Valley, as the beneficiary of their spring fundraiser. Thanks to their generosity, we received a $4,057 donation to support MAC Midwest.

As part of our partnership, Cent CU recently visited our Clear Lake Center and saw firsthand the incredible impact MAC Midwest is having on the lives of our learners, their families, and the Northern Iowa community.
During their visit, they spoke with Center Leader Shania Hagan about how our team is helping learners grow and develop new skills every day.
We invite you to take a moment to watch this heartwarming video and see the difference your support helps make.
It is moments like these that show what is possible when people come together with care and intention.
Carrying It Forward
As we reflect on Autism Acceptance Month, we carry these stories forward. They remind us that inclusion is a practice, progress is personal, and joy is worth celebrating.
Thank you for being part of a community that shows up for our learners, for our families, and for one another.
