Speech Therapy

MAC Speech-Language Pathologists collaborate with each client’s behavioral therapy team to promote language and communication development throughout their day.

In addition to direct weekly sessions, Behavioral Therapists are taught to prompt language and communication through ITP targets the same way that our Speech-Language Pathologists do in their direct sessions. This gives the client extra repetition and practice he or she requires to make real progress expressing their needs and understanding language.

All MAC Speech Language Pathologists have extensive training in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) such as iPad software , DynaVox devices and the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS). This delivery model is unique as speech therapy goals are integrated into the Individual Treatment Plan and also targeted during individual sessions.

MAC Speech Therapists are on site at our center locations and able to support the team on a moment’s notice. For example, if the team needs assistance programming the child’s AAC device, a MAC Speech Therapist is available to stop in and offer assistance throughout the week. In addition, MAC offers weekly speech and occupational therapy groups to practice social communication and motor skills in a group setting.
